The NHL Draft is held annually after the completion of the NHL Playoffs and brings together the thirty-two (32) teams to select the rights of the best amateur hockey players who meet the draft eligibility requirements. WINNIPEG, MB – Three (3) Manitoba-born players from the Western Hockey League including two (2) U-16 Team MB alumni, had their names called during Round 1 of the 2022 NHL Draft in Montreal, Quebec and eight (8) Manitobans were selected overall. Junior-aged players became eligible for the draft once they graduate from junior hockey, or to be signed as a free agent in the year the player reaches his 20th.
